Ceremony, Community and Systems Change

evolve LIVE! online event in English with Adam McKenty

TIME: Friday, October 20 from 18:00-21:00 CEST. For you location, please check World Time Buddy.

With Adam McKenty, co-founder, a Church of Interbeing, Berlin and
Elizabeth Debold, editor of evolve magazine and co-founder of emergent dialogues

Can we re-inhabit our human capacity for collective ritual? If we
could, what would it mean?

What is ceremony? Why have human cultures throughout history
used collective ritual as a fundamental orienting and meaning-making mechanism? What have we lost as modern and postmodern progress deconstructed these ritual engines of shared meaning? Can we recover such power? Why would we?

In this dialogue event, we will explore the potential role of
collective ritual in helping us pull back from the brink — or weather the fall — as our civilization navigates the edge of epochal systemic risk, and we seek oases of coherence or sanctity in the chaotic world that surrounds us.

Our conversation will be grounded in practical mechanics of
ceremonial technique, and the results of a two-year experiment creating contemporary ritual community through the church of interbeing project in Berlin.

About Adam McKenty
:
Adam Francis McKenty has worked as a software developer, gardener, stone mason, technician, photographer, musician, facilitator, and builder of organizations. Through these journeys he has been a lifelong student of ceremony, collective intelligence, and the peculiar ways that human groups fail and succeed. More recently, he was the first host of the church of interbeing project, a non-religious Sunday ritual that occurs every week in the Genezareth church in Berlin.
