Thomas Steininger in dialogue with Martin Winiecki

The philosopher Slavoj Žižek has said that it is today “easier to imagine the end of the world rather than an end to capitalism.” For those who are advocating and agitating for change, this poses quite a dilemma. Despite the desperate need for change given the metacrises humanity is facing, activism finds itself in a profound crisis of meaning, orientation, and strategy. The mass movements for climate and social justice have managed to mobilize many, but there has not been we any widespread structural transformation. We only see ever greater inequities, emerging totalitarian realities, and a growing danger of ecological and social collapse.

Martin Winiecki is a co-worker at the Tamera Peace Research & Education Center in Portugal. He is also a networker and writer, passionate about bringing about fundamental change in the systems that have us captured. His newest offering is a six-day online course, from January 21-30, entitled “What is System Change?”

This week in Radio evolve, Thomas Steininger speaks with Martin Winiecki about the possibilities of post-capitalist futures.
